Dubrovski-Eshke Boris Vladimirovich (1897-1963)

Dubrovskiy-Eshke Boris Vladimirovich (1897 Tbilisi - 1963 Moscow), Soviet cinema artist, honoured worker of art of RSFSR (1940). He was a student of Leningrad of Academy of Arts. He worked as a painter from 1917 and as a cinema painter since 1924. He was an art director of all leading film studios of Russia. He took part in creation of the following films: "Sar-Pige", "Order for life" (both in 1927), "Rebellion" (1929), "Transport of fire" (1930), "Conspiracy of the dead" (1930, together with M. Levin), "One who comes along" (1932), "Front" (1943). He was an artist of the films about V.I. Lenin, "Lenin in October" (1937, together with N. Soloviev) and "Lenin in 1918" (1939, together with V. Ivanov).
Dubrovskiy-Eshke was engaged in scientific and research work in the field of motion-picture technique.
He participated in creation of Cinema department in 1929 for training cinema artists; since 1938 he was a lecturer in All-Unoin Institute of Cinematography (VGIK). In 1940 he became a professor.
