- Stalin Prize
Money award called Stalin Prize for Art - the highest award for painters and sculptors - was established in 1941. After Stalin's death it was renamed to the State Premium for Art. Much later the Premium of Leninski Comsomol was established, also significant, however, less lucrative than the first one.
- All-Union Art Exhibitions
The biggest regular national exhibition of soviet artists. Beginning from 1946 each two years, the great exhibition took place. It was a final competition of artists that ended zonal and regional exhibitions all over the country. It was quite important for the artists to win the right to exhibit their works at the show because State museums and other Public Institutes used to buy paintings from there.
